The BassJump by twelvesouth Rocks! (Review)

Introducing.. the BassJump:
A portable subwoofer for the MacBook that kicks out jams!
Listening to music on my MacBook Pro is a delight, but sometimes I wish I had more of a mid-range or thump for my music. If you’re like me and you wish that you could easily enhance your sound (wherever you’re at), then you might want to check out the BassJump by TwelveSouth.
Designed exclusively for MacBook, BassJump is a sweet, one-of-a-kind, go anywhere, USB-powered subwoofer that turns your MacBook into a mini sound system. One single USB cable delivers power and sound. Custom software blends the music coming out of your built-in speakers with the sound output of the BassJump for dramatically enhanced audio performance.
Last night I just purchased a BassJump from my local Apple store (in Los Gatos, CA) and since then, I’ve been rocking my MacBook speakers non-stop. The sound is great; don’t expect anything insane – but expect a reasonable improvement on your speakers. The BassJump really compliments the high level sounds by providing a little low range sound and some decent mid range enhancement. I also really like the software interface for the product, it’s smooth and I can adjust the sound on the fly – it’s not really needed often but it’s a nice enhancement.
This product definitely get’s the MichelBobrowski.com seal of approval – go buy it for your MacBook now from their site for only $79.99 (it’s a great deal):

Urban Decay Photo Collage

A design I put together featuring a few images from my iPhone taken walking around Campbell, San Jose and San Francisco, California recently. I put together this random collage of pictures that contains shots from the Palace of Fine Arts, a close up of the road, a dumpster, and some graffiti – then I touched it all up in photoshop.
Epic Bay Area Panoramic

I’ve made a few panoramic pictures in my day from traveling around San Francisco and San Jose. This post is dedicated to sharing all of those pictures in one spot.. check out the links below to see my images and enjoy some of the beautiful scenes from the Bay Area.

2000% Time Lapse Sunset
Project: 2000% Speed Sunset Video
Using my new Flip camera, I captured a 45 minute sunset and sped it up to 2000% and created a video which shows the transition over 2 minutes. Once I watched the video, I was thinking that it might not be fast enough, so I created a remix too. Enjoy!

Flip UltraHD Lens Hack
So I just got a new Flip UltraHD – it’s a great video camera and I got it primarily because it’s cheap and it can shoot 720P quality at 30 frames per second. It’s a pretty big step up from the iPhone camera. You can find one of these on your local Craigslist for $100-$120. They’re a great deal and very easy to use.
I was looking online for a way to hack the firmware to get some features, when I came across a few articles talking about how to super glue on a wide angle lens. This sounded like a crazy idea but after I saw the effect I realized how cool it was. After looking online for the same type of lens kit that they used in the tutorial with no success, I ventured to my local Frys. Voila! They had the exact same kit and at a great price. I bought it without hesitation as well as a bottle of surgical superglue.
Here’s the link that inspired me: http://www.jeremyflint.com/flip-minohd-wide-angle-lens-hack/

After gluing the conversion ring to the conversion ring to the camera (I used the 30.5 to 37 size) I waited about 5 minutes before attaching the wide angle lens. The lens made my shots have SO much more range – it’s great.. my field of view is increased significantly and the procedure wasn’t too complicated.
Here are my tips on the procedure:
1.) Be VERY careful not to get any glue on the lens or you’re going to be in bad shape. (Can’t emphasize this enough)
2.) Get some sandpaper and give the 30.5 – 37 conversion ring (called a step-up.. click for more) some texture before gluing, this will help (I forgot to do it on mine.)
3.) Be careful when opening the plastic, the tutorial warned me and still I came out scathed.
4.) Take caution not to hit the lens while on, it can fall and crack pretty easily.
Note: I can still take off my front battery case without messing up the lens too!
